As its residency at the Brooklyn Museum ends today, I wanted to share a collection of photos from my visit to see The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier

I visited the expansive exhibition earlier this month with my mother in tow; she is the reason why I am so well-versed in fashion, having a father whom was a tailor in his younger years, and herself, a skilled seamstress. I love attending fashion exhibitions with her because she is knowledgeable, and above all, she cares.

Having visited on a Saturday, which happened to be the museum’s Target First Saturday program, the exhibit was packed with fans of Gaultier, eager to soak in his genius through apparel, photography, furniture, and video installations.

In all my years as a member of a museum, this was by far the most expansive special exhibition I had ever seen. Collectively Gaultier’s works filled both the Morris A. & Meyer Schapiro Wing, as well as Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Gallery. His works are exquisite, from his early boudoir-themed pieces on Madonna’s “Blonde Ambition” tour, to his current embellished pieces for Beyonce.

Take a glimpse into the exhibition below, and rush over to the museum before it’s gone!
