With the recent openings of two new Uniqlo locations in NYC; the global flagship on Fifth Avenue and additional location on 34th Street; the Japanese powerhouse cannot be stopped. Strides down the street and commutes on public transportation immerse you in Uniqlo advertising, and for good reason. They have great product. I’ve been a fan of the retailer pre-opening of their SoHo store; when they had super small pop-ups around the city, and was instantly hooked. I love basics and I love color options. They’ve grown a lot in the past few years, the recent openings in prime retail spaces are a testament to that, along with their noteworthy designer collaboration with Jil Sander. Sander created the +J diffusion line with Uniqlo back in 2009 with great success. The Fall 2011 collection marks the end of their relationship, but not to fret, the product is amazing.
Offering looks for both men and women, the +J collection is full of muted, wooly, refined elegance. The color palette is full of grey, black, bordeaux, taupe, navy, and forest green. Clothing styles include an array of outerwear, spanning blazers to trenches, peacoats to puffers, tailored pants and skirts, oxford shirts with intricate detailing, and knits galore! I fell in LOVE with the collection on a recent jaunt to the 34th Street location, and purchased a few pieces. Check them out below.
