What I’m Listening To: “Slow Down” Bobby Valentino

Spring 2005, SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta, NY.

I was a freshman in college and ready to take on the world. I was in a completely new environment; co-ed, public, college. A complete turnaround from my days in private, all-girls Catholic school in the inner-city. I was in the second semester of my Music Industry program, and gravitated towards those that shared my love of listening to and discovering music. At this time, I had a close group of friends, mainly guys, that I would do this with.

They put me on to Bobby Valentino (now known as Bobby V) as his album was released in April of that year. His music was pure R&B that captured the time, with great production from duo Tim & Bob. The lead single “Slow Down” was sooooo smooth and always brings back good memories. Take a listen.
