Fuse TV in collaboration with SoundCtrl presented their Flash FWD 2011 show on June 8th at the Gramercy Theatre in NYC. The initiative of FlashFWD is to award companies that bridge the gap between music and technology. The awards ceremony and show were held during Internet Week here in New York and was headlined by Pusha T and Ryan Leslie. The evening began with opener, Break Science, an NYC duo which fuses various genres to create what they call “new electronic” music. They consist of drummer, Adam Deitch and mixmaster Borahm Lee. I would call their sound “hip-hop dubstep”; quite entertaining. Next up was G.O.O.D. Music representer, Pusha T. He amped the crowd with tracks from his “Fear of God” mixtape, in addition to his feature on “So Appalled” and old Clipse favorite, “Grindin”. Last, but not least, was Ryan Leslie, one of my favorite musicians. Dressed in black and red with tons of jewelry, he performed with a black upright piano, along with every other synthesizer and drum machine he plays. He performed classics and new tracks from his forthcoming album “Les is More”, including “Breathe” with a special appearance by Mr. Hudson. Strong performances from all parties, which you can check out below.
